earman170 - Lily Pond Orchestra - Suite For New England Lily Pond Orchestra returns to the shores of Earth Mantra, this time with a stunning three-disc collection of exhilarating ambient compositions called "Suite For New England". Douglas JP Lee, the man behind Lily Pond Orchestra, began working on this epic release in early 2010, though at the time he was only intending to develop three individual pieces. As he composed, however, he realized that these early works were actually...

Kahvi is back on the pure IDM track with release #240. A very welcome return to Abyssal Plains with this piece of nine track perfection. Echo's of Planet Boelex begin the release in 'nautilus', the amazingly moving and haunting 'karimata straight' features a little later and 'the hidden people' is straight out of Boards of Canada. This is the kind of release that perfectly fits the Kahvi vibe, sentiments of electronica and this ep will certainly give you a buzz for weeks to come. Note: this is...

White Plains, Comfort Rooms When winter draws a deep cold breath over fields and forests the human adjourns to his sitting room, retiring back to warm places and looking at the world outside. The debut release of off land is a marvelous collection of subdued, melancholic ambience and electronics. Things slowly start off with minimal drones, followed by shuffling beats and anomalous guitar loops, interspersed with vocal snippets. The rest flows like water, with hints of nominal piano melodies, acoustic rhythms, bells and drones sliding in and out through this elegant collection, floating off into oblivion. This is a remarkable achievement, and a stimulating listening experience.

Darkly chilled electronica and an assortment of remixes make for a nice evening of listening enjoyment. About the album: mayfairgrin seeks to wrap the listener in a warm blanket of molten melodies and chilled rhythms. This is impressionistic music, existing outside of the verse-chorus-verse structures of a three-minute pop song. The music expands and blurs the boundaries between shoegaze, gothic, ambient, industrial, post-rock, and electronica. mayfairgrin has existed in various forms for the...

The dreams weren't particularly pleasant, but not nightmares either. The structure of the dream consisted solely of variation in texture, and within that synaesthetic nature of dreams the experience seemed simultaneously aural. Those dreams abandoned me at age 12 or so, but a lot of my music is an attempt to recapture those textures, to plot those surfaces...

Such was our reaction upon discovering the jaw-dropping work of Mike Carss, who releases transcendent ambient music under his project name Altus. Not only is his music world-class, but he produces an amazing quantity of it. One would think that such a prolific artist would eventually hit...

digilog welcomes idhren, another artist from germany, to its roster. After his brief appearence on the "background feelings" compilation with the lovely "magma" track, idhren now presents his debut ep for digilog and offers 6 beautiful pieces of idm/electronic music like they don't do them anymore... Crisp & glitchy beats, deep synths, sentimental atmospheres & somber melodies, all perfectly combined by a new artist with huge potential, for your listening pleasure...

Sutemos is making one more further step. Previously we were proud of the tracks the sooner or later became released on our beloved record labels. Such thing happened with Monolake, Ulrich Schnauss, Manual, Sleepy Town Manufacture, ruxpin and many others. But this time you can get the entire album that was released several years ago of highly praised British Expanding Records. We have been listening to Myrakaru’s Tammetõru for several years but that still is not enough. It is our standard for...

derrick stembridge from nashville, tennessee is the brain behind the new release on tonAtom and he weaves a tight web from beatless and atmospheric ambiences which - unlike other artists' deliberately combined ambient sound layers - unveil obvious structures and a clear sound design. drifting in silence creates the space needed for associations and harmonic melodies, somewhere in between of brian eno and the highly appreciated geir "biosphere" jenssen. at first ladderdown makes you...

earman121 - Palancar - Serenitatis For the past several years, Darrell Burgan has focused his musical efforts under the Palancar name on live ambient improvisations. As a result, his recent album releases have been almost nothing but recordings of those live performances. In early 2009, however, Darrell was inspired by Chuck van Zyl of Star's End Radio (www.starsend.org) to attempt a sequel to his 2003 commercial release "Elysium Planitia". This new Earth Mantra release, an album...

earman179 - Palancar - Elysium Planitia We have another Palancar release in store for you today, this time a re-release of a title originally from 2003. Called "Elysium Planitia", this is a collection of ambient space music that was described by one fan as "the quintessential Mars album". Originally released commercially on Blue Water Records, this album is now re-released and available freely under Creative Commons via Earth Mantra. The 'prequel' in many ways to Darrell...

Snow Effects is a collection of 4 melodic minimalist downtempo tunes flavored with hints of acoustic and piano solos. There is also a little IDM/glitch put together by a classically-trained electronica.

Milieu has a special way with making sounds unique to his style. abusing his drum lines with rigorous trips to and fro old, dusty, obsolete tape decks, sipping tea, petting cats, that sort of thing. Stray Trains is a warm and pleasant listen from a happily magical Milieu.

Another debut on Monotonik, and honestly, somewhat of a spectacular one from SinQ , aka Sander van Oirschot, a Dutch electronic musician who's produced, in his album 'Passage', one of our favorite works so far this year - and we're lucky enough to be able to release it for free, too! Completely licensed via Creative Commons, and even using multiple CC-licensed recordings as samples, SinQ's blend of triphop, electronics, and ambient is evocative and beautiful, with first track 'Who's Afraid Of...

'In the landscape of spring, there is neither better nor worse. The flowering branches grow naturally, some long, some short.'' -Zen saying, It is as winter collapses that we release this magnificient compilation, somewhat of a soundtrack for the rejuvenation of the comatose vegetation, soaked in melting snow, stretching for the heat we all so direly waited for in our 4 months of deep sleep. Compiling vairous forms of ambient music, from academic to organic, to loopy, and more, all these...

"Songs for Little Night Explorers" recreates nostalgic carefree memories of nighttime explorations with a meld of dreamy ambience and brisk IDM beats. Pip Craighead returns to Archaic Horizon with "Songs For Little Night Explorers". As the title suggests, this album is a soundtrack for the adventurous night explorations from a youthful past. Nostalgic, cheerful, and lighthearted sonics along with crisp drum programming characterize the album. Capturing the carefree fleeting...

We're delighted to present a second EP from Finnish artist Planet Boelex, following his first release for Monotonik in the form of the 'Sinking In The Soup EP' . Boelex is also known as long-time .MOD artist Tweeter, a noted alumni of early labels such as Voodoo, and continues to delight allcomers with his beautifully composed, wonderfully melodic idm sound - oddly retro, but somehow still relevant. The 'Second Thoughts EP' starts with the slow build of 'Shower Curtain', all shimmering melody...

the return of the first xenoton release from 2002. originally published as limited edition cd/minicd box. now finally at its homebase tonAtom. includes all original xenoton tracks of the initial release. all tracks are at least remastered and freshly re-encoded ("refined"), some have been re-recorded as some slightly changed versions ("redone"), which makes the download worthwile even for old lifeforms-listeners. a re-release (21 tracks / 1h37min) for all who have not met...
